Appearance: Aten is represented by the sun with sun rays falling down to the people. |

Biography: God Aten became the only official god to be worshipped when Akhenaten, previously named Amenhotep, took power around 1350 B.C. God Aten replaced thus Amun (or Amen) which was until then a major god between a multiplicity of gods. Akhenaten built a temple to Aten in Karnak, but also a new royal capital in middle Egypt, Achetaton, now el-Amarna. |
